Davide Melini’s short movie ‘The Puzzle’ offers a snapshot bundle of italian beauty. With tips of the hat to all that has come before, pure classic Proffondo Rosso era Argento inspiration and homage, Melini does in a short few minutes what other directors struggle with over an entire feature. Artistic cinematography, tension and style: this is a neat short which requires a second viewing. Shot it in one day with a budget of 300 Euro Melini’s ‘The Puzzle’ won ‘3rd Best Italian Film’ at the “Rome International Film Festival”
Take a look The Puzzle. I’ll be exploring more of Davide Melini’s work over the weekend and hopefully have some words from the man himself in the form of a short interview.
