Mama – Short film

by on Mar.18, 2013, under Other Musings

I caught Mama at the cinema this weekend and really enjoyed it although I did feel let down by the ending but I understand why it went in that direction.. i just couldn’t stop thinking about social services and the fact that someone is gonna end up with a difficult court case and I really shouldn’t have these thoughts whilst watching the film which is potentially more fantasy than horror. Anyway, that was good and enjoyable but I wasn’t expecting it to linger in the back of my mind.

There is a lot to be discussed, depth and answers required which is what I enjoy out of a film. As with my love of all things Indy I took a look at the short film which was the inspiration behind the big budget affair……. christ…. this little bag of horror has just knocked me sideways… seriously… I have shivers down my spine and although the feature length had its moments… quite a few good spooky bits… the short is just a masterpiece. Check it out below. I warn you, it is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen.

This is exactly what I mean about indy horror. Sometimes there are things that you just can’t capture with a $30,000,000 budget that you can with $300…. unless you happen to be Sam Raimi.
