I was expecting a little more from this one to be honest. Either a little gorier or a little quirkier. I expected more oddness, with it being a small independent flick, but it’s a pretty flat film all around.
The basic plot is, Dawn has teeth where she shouldn’t have teeth which results in blokes getting things bitten off. That’s it really. The film moves more towards the sympathetic side of things from Dawn’s point of view. She hates her situation and feels cursed which in turn, keeps the film in a pretty depressive mood. I’d like to point out what this film should or could have been but it’s not really my place.
So, any good points? The acting is quite good, but flawed by a lack of direction. Mitchell Lichtenstein shoots a fine looking film with nice lighting, but seems to leave his young inexperienced cast to their own devices. Jess Weixler is quite good in her role as Dawn, but there’s only so much you can take watching this. The film has no soul, no real charm or spark and for the whole, it’s just a bit slow and pointless.
As I say, it’s a shame as with the right plot and spark, this could have been great. Black comedy which appears more to be a lighter shade of grey.
